Wow, some great info, and stories there. It sounds like some people fish in April, and actually catch something, and it also seems like so many people I have talked to have May 10th as their start time. So funny so many people have that exact day. Well, as always, thank you everyone, for helping a newbie, fishing moron, like me, understand a litle bit more about our striper friends. hearing all the talk, has really charged me up. Can't wait. Counting the days. Thansk again everyone for all the great responses.

Frightnight...
exact date is flexible.
Given the tides the 3 or 4 days around May 10th, if it blows SW and is warm and sunny. I'll be out at dusk

The plan is to fish as often as possible from mid May on. From dusk/twilight through false dawn whenever I can in that timeframe. Hopefully it's a plan that doesn't get broken. Couldn't put in anywhere near the time I wanted to last year and it hurt.
Two seasons ago, started at dusk and continued for hours at the same location on back to back nights, early season near non stop action of some quality fish making the push on their way through. First night 20 lb class, second night 30 lb class and larger. The frequency and consistantcy of size made those two nights epic.
Timing is everthing, right place and right time on those two nights anyhow.

Default game plan

My game plan is to get out early and often. I am new to this area coming from Providence and though I relocated a boat from Greenwich to the Sakonnet. I did not get to fish until July last year and thus missed much of the better fishing. Now I am far less encumbered and look forward to learning my way around the water and banks.
Hoping, to gather some info to accelerate the learning curve her also.

Great spot to have as your home port.

I often make the run from Newport to fish some of the water over there.

May 5th start with eels in my usual haunts Pete, just move around a bit all ocean. By Memorial day weekend a few 30lb fish already caught then hold on into June.

Talking The New Fall Run

I hear ya Pete!

This will be my first spring fishing, as up the NShore we don't really get keepahs til June/July. That said, after the reading here and hooking up wit some of the SOCO boyz, have decide upon May's new to be the jumping off pt.

Will hit the naps like it's my job once the GURLS arrive, and am trying something different this year...................am going to do some urban feeshin' Providence style hoping to imitate some herring in the right places.

Along with that, it's game on in and around the AQ and the Conanny, exspecially from the end of May and leading up to June's new. Will hit the regular haunts on both islands, prolly all over the Gansett as I work me way N from the light on the hill.

Won't be looooooong now, gents. Almost time to gear up !!

Tight Lines, and
Happy Hunting to ALL
