Default storm surge

They're guessing at a 3 foot storm surge along the South Coast of RI. Coupled with astronomically high tides it should be fairly exciting along the coast later this weekend. Hopefully there isn't too much damage.

High tide is approximately 7pm on Sunday.

Pete:
Because it's perigee and spring tide it would have been a 1.5m tide at newport anyways. Add another 1m and your looking at 3-3.5ft above normal high tide. Probably some flooding, beach erosion etc.. the longer it sits and stalls over LI with a SE wind/swell the more erosion and damage for us.

We are all storm junkies until we see peoples furniture or decks floating down the street.
This storm has the potential of producing some serious damage to water front properties. Not a good thing for anyone!

That sustained several minute wind gust that just ripped through Middletown and Newport at approx. 11:39pm was really, REALLY intense...

I can't recall wind locally like that since one of those early 90's hurricanes.

At that time, I was tieing down my Gazebo tent on my 2nd floor deck and holding it for dear life outside last night, standing in the wind and rain, trying to keep it from blowing into my pool.

that 11:30pm wind gust last night decided to dump my neighbor's 16' round trampoline (100+yards away) on my car. It also ripped thru his pvc fence like a hot knife thru butter. Anything not tied down in my neighborhood was blown far away.
