Default your "goto lure"

what is your initial pull or searching plug from the surf bag for where you are fishing? (no specifics on locations)

obviously it will change if you are fishing the rocks vs. beach vs. breechway etc.

for me

beach......johnnie wad bm needle
rocks....jointed eel

Yo zuri mag darter. I catch fish on that plug when nothing else will even get a tap. Id go as far as saying i throw that plug about 1/2 the time im fishing. I think one of the reasons i catch so much on it is because i have confidence in it. I KNOW it catches fish.

Mine would be a Bomber type. Besides the confidence factor, it's pretty to the fish and I'm able to mod it on the water for a variety of conditions with lead tape or soldering wire.

Depends on location and time of day/night.

Blurple bomber/mambo
White Hab's 1.75oz needle
Olive/white 1.25oz Salty popper.

There are many more but these three are the most used.

many questions would have to be answered first. day or night? fast water, slow water? big, medium, or no surf? little wind or moderate wind? beach, rockpile or jetty?

for most of my fishing, it around rocks, typically a decent rip or swell, and it's at night. ignoring the moon phase, i'd say it's either a tattoo diving swimmer or tattoo jr swimmer. the new tattoo 2oz darter is now high in that list if the conditions are a little rough or a s/s darter might be used. if i need to get out there, a 2oz habs needle.

Custom bullet needle, it's the first plug that comes out of the bag no matter location. Color depends on the moon.

Default What plugs are what?

I am new at this fishing thing, but it amazes me how many plugs/lures there are, and really amazes me that all of you know the name of them. I have about 12 plugs and do not know the name of any of them. LOL Is there somewhere you can go to see the names and pictures of all these lures? If not, maybe that is something SWE should do, for all us beginners?

Default Great Suggestion...

Sounds like a good subject for an article...

In the meantime, I recommend checking out the SWE online store (not to buy anything ... well, unless you want to of course ) ... You can hover over the different links on the following page and the picture changes to show an example of the lures... Click on the link for more examples of that type...

SWE Lures Page

Any other specific questions can always be posted on the forums... Thanks Frightnight
