assumeing a body of fish with large and small that are all, and this is key, willing to feed on large bait which isn't allways the deal, bigger baits will single out larger fish

It all depends..................upon whether or not you can land your offering right on her nose or not. The BIGGEST of the Bigs aren't budging from their spot too far. Sose iffin you can put a 6" swim shad in their strike zone, chances are she's gonna slam it.

However, I also subscribe to the BIG BAIT= BIG BASS school.
Say we're talking about the same 50#-60#'er just loungin' around, cruising the bottoms like she and her yearmates own them, and they do; but now you've sent them a 9" juicy looking, more bang for their energy spent morsel, and I think you'll have more than one of these BIGGUNS expending the energy to inhale it. It's all about timing and where and when your bait/lure/plastic meets its maker, so to speak.

But, don't take my word for it ask some of the eelers, timber tossers, and the live liners. When I asked Jim Sylvester what he caught his monster from last year with he said, "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeels!" "..........big enough to make small children run away crying MOMMY!!" 46.5#er from a boat.

Yes and No, but Yes more then no. I have seen some cows taken with 4" swim baits, smaller poppers, and 6" sluggos. I definately believe its a lot to do with right place right time as mentioned above. No fish big or small will pass up an easy meal when hungry especially when theres not a lot of work involved. But then again a smaller fish is more likely to ignore or just mess with a large bait so it gives that bait a longer soak time and more possibility for the fat lazy cow to spot it and inhale it.
