| I have a 250 and the drag is either to tight or to lose. I have been using braid. I have to go 1/4 turn after the knob is snug to the spool so it wont fall off. I have hooked a few fish that I lost. I feel that the hook was pulled because the drag was to tight. I tried to fish with the knob just tight enough to be snug with the spool. Then the knob gets lose. I have lost one knob already. I spoke with Craig, he told me to give it time, I hope he is right. I love the reel, except for this problem. Does anyone have the same problem? |

| It will improve but there's no question that initially it can be a problem. I would (I'm not joking) find something or someone to run off 100 or so yards of line under strong drag pressure. The drags on my VS reels are never better then after I've caught a few schoolie bluefin tuna on them. |

Easy for you to say !!! I also have a VS 250 and need to adjust the drag. Well..... I rigged the reel up to a rod and asked my wife to grab the line and take off like a stripped bass. She didn't go for it ... |

| how old is your vs reel? if it's older, it could be an older drag. i had a 250 that was had an older drag design where they changed something inside. this was about 3-4 years ago. that got replaced during a normal servicing and the drag was fine afterwards. as for what pete is saying, we had phatt matt's vs in the shop a couple weeks back and we were testing one of my rods. we put some serious pressure on the rod and drag and all of a sudden you felt the drag kinda pop and the drag got nice and smoothe and easy to pull. i would tie the line to a tree or fence post and tighen the drag. then, take a couple hard pulls or runs with it. just don't high stick the rod in the porcess.
