Question surf rod help

I was wondering if I could get some help on picking out a surf rod I have my eye on the st croix 10.6 mh spinning rod with a penn750 ss reel any comments on this would be great and any help finding something good

St.Croix's a nice stick.The 750ss will work with it but is a little heavy imo.

If you already own the 750 then go with it.I'm assuming that you're bait fishing?If yes than the 750 will be more than fine.You could even go bigger.If bait fishing a Shimano or Penn's equivalent "baitrunner" models are best to consider.

Plugging with what you're considering can become very tiresome very quick.St.Croix's are light rods to begin with but at 10'6" and then hanging a heavy reel you'll be getting a sore shoulder in no time.

I use the St. Croix with the Shimano Spheros 5000....works great and its a lite set up that can handle the 3 oz lure well in the wind
