2024 Conservationist Of The Year

Recently Peter Jenkins, owner of The Saltwater Edge, was named the 2024 Conservationist of the year by Fly Fisherman Magazine. To those of you who know Peter this should come as no surprise. Peter's tireless work towards a better fishing future is evident in most of what he does every day. Whether he is helping a customer learn something new in the shop or spending his nights at the statehouse advocating for fisheries protection and coastal access, Peter is always trying to create a better future for us all. As he told me when this was announced "If you do the right thing for long enough, you might get caught doing it." You can read the full article at Fly Fisherman Magazine or pick up a copy at your local magazine shop.

Peter, As Secretary and on behalf of the North Fork Anglers, Southold, NY congratulations for the award. I have done business with Saltwate3r Edge specifically because of your conservation and education efforts. Here’s wishing you many more years of fishing and conservation activism. As Pawtucket born, growing up with a family cottage at Breakwater Village in Narragansett where I started my surfcasting journey I know In RI there are exceptional people there such as yourself. As my late friend Gary always said"Keep on, Keepin’on".
